Celá expediční skupina teď už podruhé prožívá nucenou pauzu v lezení - počasí prakticky vylučuje nástup do stěny. Předpověď, kterou jsme si v emailu stáhli v pondělí ukazuje na špatné počasí až do 29.7., což je termín, který nás nutí začít kalkulovat s datem definitivního odchodu od hory. Rozdíl mezi těmi daty ukazuje čas, po který bude možné ještě usilovat o vrchol. Zatím ale rozhodně nikdo pesimizmu nepropadá. Zvlášť ne po dnešním ránu, kdy konečně dorazili nosiči s nákladem vajec, kerosinu a chilli omáčky. Na toaletní papír ale proviantní náčelník někde hluboku v údolí zapoměl.
Ostatní expedice, které byly úspěšné, se pomalu balí a připravují na odchod. Internacionálové odcházejí po jednom - Hans Kammerlander už je dva dny pryč. Trochu se podivujme bohorovnosti Korejců, kteří ze šesti lidí, kteří v neděli stáli na vrcholu, mají dnes, ve středu v bejzu DVA! Jeden zemřel na sestupu a leží někde poblíž naší C3. Jeden je ale ještě stále v Advanced BC - na konci ledopádu, těsně před nástupem do Abruzziho. A dva jsou údajně ještě pořád v korejském C2 - jeden se sněžnou slepotou a druhý s edémem mozku. Korejci se přitom připravují na 27.7. na definitivní odchod z BC. Jestli do té doby dokážou dostat dolů lidi, tak materiál určitě ne.
Včera, v úterý odpoledne jsem zašel do BC Broad Peaku a navštívil Bulharskou skupinu. V pondělí uspěli jejich první tři lezci: Gospodin Dinev, Petco Totov a Stanimir Gelyazcov. Byli hodně mlčenliví a pozradili jen, že na vršek stoupali 12 hodin z C3 (C4 vůbec nestavěli) po tvrdém sněhu a na vrchu byli zároveň se dvěma Američany. Čtyři další Bulhaři měli jít den po nich - tedy dnes. Ovšem při pohledu z BC K2 na vrchní partie Broad Peaku se jako dobrý nápad nezdá ani útok ale ani vyčkávání v C3. Příští rok, řekl jeden z nich, chtějí na K2. Zamýšlejí nastoupit do Abruzziho. Ačkoliv to mají jeden den trekku, na nástup se podívat nebyli, nýbrž jak tvrdí - mají dobré infomace.
Den před Bulhary byli údajně na vrchu Broad Peaku dva Argentinci a těsně před pokusem jsou ještě Estonci.
V úterý večer došlo k celkem dost trapné situaci, když do našeho jídelního stanu - kluci hráli zase člobrdo - přišel Christian Trommsdorf z Chamonix. Doteď to byl velký kamarád od mezinárodní expedice. Byla s ním sranda. Na vrchol se bohužel nedostal, podle všeho se neodhodlal projít pod sérakem nad C4 - letos je nakloněn opravdu extrémně... Když sestupoval, potkal Radka a chtěl po něm nejdřív, aby mu něco vzal. Radek toho sám nesl dost. Potom Christian žádal pomoc při bourání jednoho stanu v C1. To už u toho byl i Míra. Tak tedy že mu pomůžou. Christian si položil plný batoh na skalní hřebínek. Půl mteru od fixu, ale necvaknul ho! No a jak kluci bourali stan, zavadil Radek při skládání čtyřmetrové tyčky o ten jeho bágl a následoval osmisetmetrový pád. Batoh se přitom po většinou vysypal. Něco z věcí našli všichni tři při sestupu a něco si nechal Qgir. No a večer přišel Christian s tím, aby mu ty ztracené věci Radek zaplatil.
Tak jsme ho - toho, kdo si necvakne ve stěně batoh na fix - vyhodili. Nakonec při odchodu svou vypočítavost obracel, jako že nevěděl, že to bylo nechtíc a tyčkou, když mu Radek pomáhal... No prostě trapný.

We are sitting in BC for the second time now and waiting for the weather to clear up. It is so bad that there is no way to go to the mountain face at all. The weather forecast which we have from Monday’s Internet news is predicting bad weather until 29.7. Around that date we will have to start to plan to leave this mountain. We are still very optimistic though. Especially after today’s arrival of the porters with new supplies: eggs, gas, and chili sauces. The only thing that they forgot was toilet paper.
The other expeditions that are here with us under K2 and which were successful are packing for departure. Members of the International expedition are leaving one by one. Hans Kammerlander has left already two days ago. We are also amazed by the pontifical behavior of the Koreans. Out of six people standing on the summit of K2 this Sunday, today they have only TWO of them back down at BC ! One of their climbers died on the way down and lies somewhere near our C3. One is still in advanced BC on the end of the ice-fall just at the beginning of Arouzi’s route. And the other two are supposedly still in the Korean’s C2 ( one suffering with snow blindness and the other with brain swelling). Can you believe that the Koreans are getting ready to depart from BC on 27.7? They may manage to get down their people down by then, but they will definitely not manage to get their gear down.
Yesterday I went to visit the Bulgarian group in BC under Broad Peak. On Monday the climbers: Gospodin Dinev, Petco Totov, and Stanimir Gelvazcov reached the summit of Broad Peak. They were very quiet and told us only that they reached the summit after a 12 hour ascent on the hard snow directly from C3 ( they completely skipped C4! ). On the summit they were together with two Americans. 4 other members are supposed to go the day after ( means today ). When we look at the top part of Broad Peak today from our BC here under K2, it looks to us like their plans to attack the summit isn’t a good one. We do not even think it’s a good idea for them to wait in C3. One of the Bulgarians told us: Next year we want to go to K2 Abruzzi’s route. Even though the beginning of Abruzzi’s route is a one day trek away from their BC under Broad Peak, they did not use this opportunity to take a look. Anyhow they still claim they are well informed.
Two Argentinean climbers were on top of Broad Peak a day before the Bulgarians, and there are Estonians just about to attack the summit.
We experienced a very embarrassing situation on Tuesday evening when Christian Trommsdorf from Chamonix entered our dinning tent. Until now he was a good friend from the international expedition. He was always very funny. Unfortunately he did not make the summit. Most likely he did not want to go under the overhanging snow-ice, which is over C4. This year it is leaning to the extreme. On his way down he met Radek and asked him to carry some stuff down for him. Radek was fully loaded at that time. Then Christian asked for help to break down the tent in his C1. Mira was there too and so the boys were going to help him. Christian put his full bag the on the small mountain ridge, half of meter from the fix, but he did not attach it! And so as they were working on the tent. Radek brushed against Christian’s bag during the folding of the 4 m long pole. The bag fell about 800 meters down and mostly everything fell out from it. Some of the things the three of them were able to find on their way down, some stuff was kept by Oqir herself. In the evening Christian came to our BC asking Radek to pay for his lost stuff.
So we threw him out! In the end, on his way out he who does not fix his bag on the mountain face, tried to mask the manipulative side of his personalty by pretending that he did not know, that Radek did it by mistake while helping him to break down his tent…… This was simply embarrassing!
